Perceptions of China

Perceptions of China

China is the world’s most populous country and one of the largest in surface area, spanning the equivalent of 5 time zones. These photographs are representative of just a tiny fraction of this vast country as they were taken only in Sichuan and Anhui, two of the twenty-three provinces in which China is administratively divided. Through them I want to share with you my perceptions of this Sleeping Giant captured in the streets of Chengdu and Hefei.

The monochromatic tone of this photographic series is an assumed choice to emphasize the timelessness of this 4,000 year old country since the first Xia dynasty. Series made with a Leica M6 and Kodak films, 2018.
